George Keck
As a young hot rodder in the Midwest, George Keck was given a test drive in an MG—and the rest is history. In 1953 he started racing a Porsche after moving to Seattle to work at Boeing. He was one of the pioneers in Formula Three. In 1956 he raced a Porsche 550 Spyder. Formula Threes gave him a sense of security “you could do no wrong in them” though that approach didn’t work in the new Porsche, which he rolled in the old Turn One at a race at Shelton. George ran the Spyder through 1957. With a new RS Spyder in 1958 George traded up for a wrecked model that had run at Sebring, and set about rebuilding it, which he ran as the “RSKeck”. While he was getting it ready, he ran a Fiat Abarth with success in modified and production. He later sold the Porsche to get his famed Ferrari, which he found for sale in a local newspaper classified ad! In the Ferrari, George won several races.
